Welcome
Welcome to the Hobart Town (1804) First Settlers
Association that was founded to foster and promote awareness
of Hobart's historical heritage and to encourage members in the
research, collection and writing of their family historical background,
and to preserving material of all types relating to the first
and early settlers of Hobart. Views our aims
and activities.
Hobart's historical past is a young heritage, just over 200 years
compared with the history of other countries and cities. We are
in such a capable position to record it for the future. Our Association
encourages members to do their family research, record family stories,
collect photos, letters, personal items and diaries to preserve
them as your legacy for the future. Explore the history of your
past and preserve it for your families future - become a member
and join us at the Hobart Town (1804) First Settlers Association.
To join the Hobart Town (1804) First Settlers Association we suggest
you review our Membership Types to
see which Class suits you. Our meeting schedule is also available
online as an events calendar. Meetings
are held on the first Tuesday of every month commencing at 10.00am
except for January.
Meetings are held at the Moonah Community Centre, 7 Gormanston
Road, Moonah. The venue has easy access and good parking.

An Annual Floral Tribute is held on the 20th of February every
year commencing at 11.00am. Representatives from the original inhabitants,
government, councils, Mission to Seamen, Historical Societies and
our members and friends attend the tribute at the Hunter Street
Monument to commemorate our First and Early settlers.
The monument is located on Hobart's waterfront near where Lieutenant-Colonel
David Collins landed with the first
settlers on 20 February 1804.
Being an outside event it is confirmed that the Floral Tribute
will be held at the usual place, at the Hunter Street Monument
commencing at 11.00 am. All interested persons are invited to attend.
Invitation for the 2025 Floral
Tribute.
