Aims and Activities
The aims of the Hobart Town (1804) First Settlers Association
Inc are:
- To commemorate and promote interest in the first and early settlers
of Hobart both free and bond
- To facilitate contact between descendants of the first and early
settlers of Hobart
- To collect, catalogue and preserve material of all types relating
to the first and early settlers
- To foster and promote awareness of Hobart's historical heritage
- To encourage our members in their research, collection and the writing
of their family's historical backgrounds
Our activities include:
- Meetings at Moonah Community Centre, 7
Gormanston Road, Moonah on the first Tuesday in
each month except in January
- Trips to places of historical interest
- Sharing information on our ancestors
- Interesting monthly meetings with guest speakers
- Floral Tribute each year on 20th February at the Hunter Street Monument to
commemorate the foundation of Hobart
- Quarterly Newsletters
- Having our library resources available to (local and visiting) members
- Celebrating historical Hobart events.
Committee
The committee, elected at the Annual General Meeting, consists of a
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Historian and one
to seven financial members. The Association also has a Public Officer.
